Mexico City 2008
Legal language: transparent and efficient
In November 2008, Clarity, the Mexican Ministry of Public Administration and Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM) co-hosted the 4th Clarity Conference.
Over 180 people from 16 countries attended this 4-day conference. For the first time, speakers from Argentina, Chile, Mexico, and Peru shared their views about plain language and learned from experts coming from Canada, Netherlands, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Sweden.
It was the first time such an event had taken place in a Spanish-speaking country. The Mexican Government had been promoting the use of plain language as a way to become more transparent, efficient, and closer to citizens’ needs.
